Multisensory perception and wayfinding on the example of vibrotactile pedestrian navigation
—
Navigation applications on mobile devices can easily optimize our wayfinding. They can provide information and experience as well as improve the user’s wayfinding capabilities. The aim of the project was to develop a connection between analog and digital technologies with a focus on the transition from the digital codes to a physical output. As a result, a wearable vibrotactile interface was developed – i.e. an interface that transmits information via vibration actuators. This interface intends to help the user as a navigation tool and thereby relieve the user’s visual sense.
